Limewash finish in a warm bedroom with soft layered tones

Limewash

Soft, chalky limewash that adds texture and an Old World character to any wall.

Limewash is a traditional European wall finish made from aged lime putty thinned with water and pigment. Unlike venetian plaster, which is polished smooth, limewash is applied in soft, overlapping strokes that create a beautifully aged, layered effect. The finish is semi-transparent, allowing the texture of the underlying wall to show through.

Limewash is one of the most approachable and forgiving decorative finishes we offer. Its chalky, matte appearance suits farmhouse, Mediterranean, and contemporary interiors alike. Because it is breathable and mineral-based, it is an excellent choice for older homes and spaces prone to humidity.

Our Process

1

Surface Prep

Walls are cleaned, patched, and primed to ensure good adhesion and an even base for the limewash.

2

First Coat

A thinned base coat is applied with a wide brush in loose, overlapping strokes to establish depth and variation.

3

Second Coat & Refinement

Additional coats build character and depth. The applicator works wet-into-wet for a soft, blended result.
